Version 6.x is file compatible with versions 5.x and
4.x. Although earlier versions will read newer version files, data associated
with newer features will not be visible in earlier versions and will be lost if
the file is saved in the earlier version..
There is no need to uninstall previous versions before installing 6.0. If you
wish to return to an earlier version, just install it over 6.0. If you choose to
uninstall a previous version, you may want to first back up your defaults and
layouts (files in the RoadEng folder).
Versions 6.x, 5.x and 4.x have a conversion utility that allows them to read
version 3.x files. However these conversion utilities are incompatible with
newer operating systems. Once files have been converted, they can no longer be
read by 3.x software. There is no "Save As previous version" function, although
ASCII and DXF formats can be used for this purpose to some extent.
The following features have been added to Softree products since the version 5.055 release October, 2007. This is when 5.1B was created.
