Digitizing

Contours, areas, perimeters, lengths can be quickly digitized from scaled maps or air photos. Once digitized, they can be plotted at any scale and saved.

Two modes of digitizing are supported; Quick Digitizing and Coordinate Digitizing. In Quick Digitizing mode an area or length of line can be quickly traced. As the name suggests this method is quick. It is ideal for ad hoc digitizing. In Coordinate Digitizing mode a map registration process is carried out before digitizing. Coordinates (e.g. UTM) are preserved.

Hole or island features can be flagged so that their area is subtracted from the total.

Attributes such as existing road locations, streams or power lines can be identified while digitizing. Elevation information can also be captured.
