RoadEng Version 4 Released

July 15, 2003.

Softree Technical Systems Inc. of West Vancouver B.C. has announced the release of RoadEng Version 4, their standalone program for road engineering.

This new version of RoadEng has been in development for more than 3 years and is a significant step forward in functionality. Version 4 includes a long list of new features to make it faster and easier to use. Some of the most notable are the survey adjustment history, user definable attributes, station equations, 3D window, improved import/export, image rubber sheeting, interactive curve editing, template objects, spirals, culvert editor, design speed, sight stopping distance and AASHTO standards.

Widely used in the forest and resource industries (more than 1000 customers), RoadEng Version 4 is now available in both Forest Engineering and Civil Engineering editions. The Forest Engineering edition focuses on survey and design of low volume roads while the Civil Engineering version is applicable to a variety of civil design applications.

Craig Speirs, Softree’s President, says RoadEng is unique in its ease of use and interactive capabilities. "When it comes to the civil design market, we admit we’re new kids on the block. Our approach is quite different from the other established civil/survey packages. RoadEng is all about engineering, drafting is not our main focus. RoadEng is highly interactive. The user makes a design change and immediately sees the result. We are very encouraged by the feedback we’ve had from civil engineers and designers who have seen our software".
