Importing Lat/Lon Coordinates

In this example we will demonstrate how to import an ASCII file containing, Lat/Lon coordinates. We will also demonstrate how to create a file import specification and save it in an IOP file for later use.

The file used in this example is a marine survey and includes sonar trace and magnetometer readings created from using Portable Navigator III (see http://www.effective-solutions.co.uk/softw1.html for more information). The survey log contains over 5000 data points. The record format is: @f,@t,@p:4,@1,@2,@q,@>:4 i.e. the log contains fix no., time, antenna position, mag o/p (@1), depth (@2), fix quality and towfish position. This file is similar to a NEMA 0183 format. Here is a sample of the file.
