Digitizer Configuration Dialog

This dialog box allows you to configure a new digitizer It is accessed from the Digitizing - Digitizer Config menu.

COMMUNICATIONS PORT Options

Select of the correct port is not required if the WINTAB is selected.

COMn: You can select which COM port you want to assign to your digitizer with the COM1, COM2 etc. radio buttons.

Setup: The Setup button allows you to change the communications parameters including baud rate (bits per second), parity, stop bits, data bits and flow control for the selected port. See Standard ASCII Digitizer Settings for your model of digitizer. The procedure to set the communications parameters depends on the version of Windows you are using.

Windows 3.x

The setup button activates the Windows Control Panel.  Select the Ports and then Settings options.

Windows 95

The setup button activates the Windows Control Panel. From the System Icon select the Device Manager Tab - Ports. Choose the appropriate port eg COM 1 then from the Properties - Port Settings set the communications parameters.

DIGITIZER DRIVER Options

Assign New

Activates the Digitizer Drivers Dialog to change the type of digitizer (driver). The current driver is displayed at the top of the screen.

Customize

Activates the Digitizer Customization Dialog allowing formatting and other digitizer parameters to be modified. This option is not available if the WINTAB is selected.

Key Mappings

Activates the Digitizer Key Mappings Dialog allows the definitions of the keypad to be modified. The values entered should correspond to the values transmitted when a digitizer key is pressed (these do not always match the value shown on the key).

TEST Option

This option allows you to test the digitizer to ensure that it is working properly.

The Digitizer Test Dialog box shows the communications settings and all transmitted information from the digitizer. After a key is pressed on the digitizer a series of characters should appear in the test dialogue box representing the packet transmitted. If the digitizer has been set up properly the X, Y and KEY fields will be displayed at the bottom of the dialogue box.
