If the Security Hardlock key is not properly installed the program will run in Demonstration Mode.
1) Attach the key to any parallel port (LPT1 or LPT2) or a USB key to any USB port.
The security key can be plugged directly or attached with a cable to the port. A printer can also be attached to the parallel port key. The key will not effect the printer operation with other programs.
From the Start button select Run, enter C:\Program Files\Softree\Roadeng\Drivers\setup.exe in the command line field (assuming you installed the software into the installation default directory C:\Program Files\Roadeng). NOTE: it may be necessary to reboot after installing the driver.
You should remove the security hardlock prior to using any external tape drives, zip drives or backup devices. Failure to do so may damage the key.
The HARDLOCK doesn't have to be attached to the same port as the printer. It is often convenient to attach the key on an extra parallel port. The hardlock security key is transparent to printers, however in some cases the printer must be turned on for the key to work.
Customers who have purchased (or leased) the software will receive one key per copy licensed to them. It is possible (and acceptable under the terms of the license agreement) to install the Softree software on many computers and move the key(s) around depending on which computers are most convenient to use (i.e. home or office). One key will allow one user to use the Softree software at any given time.
