Revisions are periodically made to the software with minor enhancements and corrections to reported problems. It is possible to download these updated versions at any time from the Softree web site (www.softree.com).
1. Create a directory on your hard drive to contain the installation files eg. C:\Softree.
2. Using your Internet browser (Netscape or Internet Explorer) access the Download area of the Softree web page (www.softree.com).
3. Follow instructions on the web page to download the new version and save it in the directory created in step 1.
Downloading can take from 2 - 30 minutes depending on your Internet connection.
4. After downloading is complete you will have a self expanding zip file, eg. Softree.exe (this name may be different depending on the software you are using).
5. Double click on file downloaded.
6. From the Start button select Run, enter C:\Softree\Softree.exe in the command line field (assuming you downloaded to directory C:\Softree).
On the Setup Dialog, General tab, there is a Check For Updates option which can be adjusted to however often you would like the program to check the softree server for a newer version. Setting this to weekly should be satisfactory.
When the program detects that a newer version is available, it will popup the Softree Product Update Dialog to see if now is a convenient time to download and install the new version.
Once the ok is given to proceed with the upgrade, the installer file will be downloaded to the \Program Files\Softree\Install folder and the installation process will begin. The downloaded file will remain in this folder after the installation is complete, and can be used for future installations and backed up to CD if you wish.
On the Help menu, choose Softree on the Web | Check For Updates at any time to have the program check the softree server for a newer version. If a newer version is available, it will display the Softree Product Update Dialog as described above.
