File - New

This option creates a new design within a selected directory. After selecting this option, the Select P-line Traverse and/or terrain for use in new design Dialog will appear. The Select P-line Traverse and/or terrain for use in new design Dialog allows you to specify the traverse document and/or Terrain file upon which the design will be based (see SURVEY/MAP Online help for more information ). 

You can also read a surface from a landxml file.  The Import Landxml Surface Options Dialog will appear allowing you to choose a surface for import.

To select a traverse file, a terrain file, or a landxml file:

1. Select a new directory from the "look in:" list box (if desired).

2. Select the traverse, terrain, or landxml file from the "File Name:" list box or type the file name directly into the "File Name:" edit box.

3. Click on the "Open" button or press <ENTER> to retrieve the file.

To select both a terrain and traverse file:

1. Select a new directory from the "Look in:" list box (if desired).

2. Select the traverse and terrain file from the "File Name:" list box by holding down the CTRL key while selecting.

3. Click on the "Open" button or press <ENTER> to retrieve the traverse file.

NOTE: your design will remain unnamed until you save it. The Title bar in the main window will have "UNTITLED" displayed.
