Section Window

The Section Window displays a cross sectional view of the road design and status text/numeric information about that station. The section window always displays the current point (represented by a red cross in the Plan and Profile windows). (See also View - Section Options).

The horizontal and vertical position of the alignment can be modified in the section window see Modifying the Vertical Alignment in the Section Window and Modifying the Horizontal Alignment in the Section Window.

Creating and Configuring the Section Window

1) To create a new Section window select menu Window - New Window - Section. Only 1 section window can be created. It is possible however to print multiple sections (see Print Section Options Dialog).

2) To Configure the Section Window activate it by clicking on its title bar. Select menu View - Section Options. To save these options for future use see Layout Files.

Errors in the Section Window

An error condition occurs when there is no intersection of the road template with topography. In this case an error message appears in the cross section window. A typical error condition occurs when the fill angle is shallower than the ground side slope (an infinite fill volume is created) or the cut angle is shallower than the side slope (infinite cut volume).
