This option is accessed from the Cable Analysis - Calculation Parameters menu. It allows you to change the type of analysis.
The main calculation options are shown in the Type of Analysis group at the top of the dialog box. Depending on your choices there, you will be required to enter additional parameters:
Maximum flying load given clearance
Enter the required clearance in project units.
Enter the payload required.
Deflection for fixed skyline given load
Enter the payload, and % deflection (equivalent midspan).
Enter the % deflection (equivalent midspan).
Enter the haulback tension.
The carriage is now clamped to the skyline and the haulback is assumed slack. For a Slack Pulling carriage the mainline tension is set to the load.
NOTE: changing the units for load will also change the units on the payload output display. Similarly changing the units for haulback tension will change the tension display.
The cable mechanics calculations are performed at discrete points along the profile. You can control the spacing and number of calculation points using the Calculation Points group box.
Select Ground Break Points to get a calculation at each break in the ground (survey hubs if the topography was surveyed). Select Equal Intervals to divide the calculation range into equally spaced calculation points; the spacing is determined by the # slices (number of intervals) parameter.
Note that an odd number of slices will put calculation points on the extremes of the calculation range (Stn From and To ). An even number of slices will start and finish half an interval from the ends.
Modify the Stn From and To to exclude unlogged regions at either end. By default Cable Analysis calculates from just after head spar to just before the tail.
